According to Daisy Järvi, manager of Vabalaud OÜ – the company administering the Vabalaud.ee website – the creation of the environment received a push from the fact that friends and acquaintances would often contact her and ask for recommendations on where to dine out.
Estonia currently lacks a regulation for distinguishing restaurants according to levels. In principle, anyone could affix the word “restaurant” to the door of their eatery; unfortunately, this leaves visitors to rely on the trial by error method in order to get a clear idea. As a result, clients frequently find themselves confused when it comes time to choose an eatery with the correct level of service and price scale for a corresponding event, stated Järvi.
Speaking about the Vabalaud.ee concept, the manager admits that, on the one hand, the environment allows interested parties to easily make reservations for restaurants. The selection is facilitated by an introduction to comprehensive preliminary information, the menu, location map as well as picture gallery and virtual tour. On the other hand, advice and recommendations can be requested, for the purposes of which the corresponding contact number + 372 513 5786 has been created. Visitors also have the opportunity to comment on eateries, i.e. to share their experiences. True, in order to avoid the appearance of inappropriate and biased tests, the comments section is moderated and the Vabalaud.ee administrator personally communicates with participants regarding feedback. Six restaurants are currently using the Vabalaud.ee service, which has been available for a little more than 14 days. An additional 10-12 restaurants will soon be added.
